thanks to suggestions, i bought some roof flashing on the way home tonight. it's cheap enough so i will apply a couple of layers to one flare and see what effect it makes, i can then do a side by side comparision.
one thing i noticed about the flares is that the first 2 i got had foam in the throat of the flare, they sounded better than the others without foam, but on the expense of HF extension.

Fibre glass resin would stick to aluminium, you could coat inside and out with it. I did this with wooden horns I made, and it brought back the hf as well as adding a dampening factor.

Good 'ol Martin stuff. You could certainly brush resin in between the vanes.

They look very nice Dave,I better do mine.Got to keep up with the jones's!
Pair of my phili's have expanding foam filling up the void's down each side of the horn.Have to say i've never done a side by side comparison to see if they sound better.
Tony when you made cabs for Martin did you have anything to do with the H350?
Just that one of mine has ATC bass pa75's in with rubber surrounds and a much smaller port than the other ,that has RCF drivers and a large port.Is it that one is simply an older model then the other ? I was told that one was bought in '79 and one in '85.
I at first thought that one was a copy as the workmanship didn't seeem as good.

sprayed them with Plasticote Super satin. Seems to be abit better than halfords, and is cheaper at than it if i get it from bandq.
Ive done the Grills too.
Just applying some Flashbanding to the one now.
Im not sure if the philli should have foam in, as i would of thought it was part of the rear chamber.

Yes,I thought that also ,but presumably would sound tighter and not drop as low with less chamber?Need to do a comparison now!

Rupe you dont want to be going lower than 250 anyway, as the drivers start to hit the phase bung = hole in wallet for recone.
