Corner Loading, horn extensions, & Cardioid Placement

if you have more than 2 bin there's a lot of options
check this , the distance between cab are also important

thanks for the links guys! read up on Mr Rat too, seems to be very into cardioid setups. From what i gathered today.
1. corner and wall loading should be used in areas with walls obviously.
2. Cardioid setups are something to consider when not using direction bass horns outside or in large areas.

Regarding Cardioid placement, using the method of one cab in front of the other at 1/4 wavelength and delayed, what is the ideal 1/4 length im going for? would it be 63Hz, or something lower?

this would place the front cab 1.361 meters in front of the other, and use a 3.97 ms delay.

The frequency you set your delay to is usually at the centre of the band pass of the sub cabinet? It helps avoid getting near the HPF and LPF filters which will alter the delay / crdioid response.

For me though it`s usually whatever freq and angle needs cancelling the most.

As for horn extensions on tapped horns....



These made a huge difference to the overall output. Mainly by adding more directivety but also by smoothing out the response.

These are the first rough measurements of one bin with temporary extensions.



Blue is single box no extns, red is a very wide / deep horn extn and green is a shorter / narower extension.

We ended up with somewhere inbetween the green and red ...

I do have the measurements we took from that photo somewhere!! That`s why there`s a mic there!
