cheers Bitzo the compression chamber is 2L no not yet im learning akabak as i go....... but yes i want to before i come up with my final plan for the 6", also i want to sim the 6" with the 12" and add a cross over im lookin at how i can do this with akabak. I read some where you can a few months back but cant remember where i read it. The current horn plot can be built wooden adding a bit of filler to round off. other methods would meen getting out the fibreglass.....

Hi bee,
to me...2 liter is too much...I calculated the cone volume from the drawing of a b&c 6" driver, using a trunc of cone volume formula. I get 75 cc. So...probably is less than the real value, cause is not a real cone and because of the dust cap.
I don't know to get different expansion from akabak but you use can use HR to calculate a tractrix contour to get the flare frequency that you want.

cheers, bitzo

Sorry bitzo do you mean the chamber at the front of the driver (the space the driver does not take up before the horn starts).... the rear chamber is 2L, i have not calculated the effect of of the front chamber. how do i do this using akabak.

I don't know how to do that but....you can use HR like an interface to Akabak, HR is more user friendly ;) . so you can export the input screen to akabak. So does this horn will have a phase plug? what shape? Sorry but I'm pretty curious :)

yes a phase plug for sure, im gonna try a few differant designs of plug once im happy with the basic horn design. im looking into how i can sim a plug using akabak i think this can be done. I have used hr a lot in the past, so not only am i designing a new horn but learning akabak at the same time. So far i think akabak is a great programe, it just takes a while to learn it. I have sim'd other 6" horn designs ill post some plots as soon as im happy with them. Thanks for your input Bitzo hows your horn coming on.......

That plot looks good. I don't know much about akabak, which of those figures is throat area? I would imagine it's quite small to get that much hf.

Does akabak let you define the shape of the horn and the shape of the plug? If it does this could be interesting. My method for plug design is to export the hornresp data to a spreadsheet and then calculate a horn the size I want it to be, the plug area ends up being the difference in area at each step. I ended up building the horn and then experimenting with different shape plugs. This is an ongoing process- I'm currently working on stopping the hf beaming.

I'll be watching this thread with interest.
