I have lost count of the sanders that I have bought over the years. When ASS was cooking, I had 5 guys just on sanding, so there would have been at least 10 ELU sanders in the factory. Moving on up to date, I have been using Festool Rotary sanders which are brilliant. The reason for posting this is to say I have discovered a new sander called Rupes. They are made in Italy, very similar to Festool but cheaper. I had already bought a Rupes corner sander and noticed it was extremely smooth, so I thought I would test one out. There are 3mm and 5mm throw versions, the same as Festool. I wanted one of each. Look at the Rupes site. Looking won't cost.
