My first sound system: critical review was created by JustusderJaeger
Dear community, thank you already so much for teaching me so much about this wonderful nerd stuff
Its been a wild ride the past months designing my first small sound system and I'd like to ask you for a critical review before I dump more money into this hobby.
The sound system is beeing made for a indoor party in a small room approximately 30m² with spill into a garden.
Afterwards I want to use it for (loud) listening sessions and other small partys. So I'd say its a HiFi-PA-Hybrid (if that exists), but it is DSP managed and crown powered.
I'd love to have the system as a decent all rounder. I want to play everything from and in between Bossa Nova, to Funk, Disco, Raggea to some warm House and Break Beat - you get the idea.
Here's the current design:
Sub:
Cubo Sub
18" Driver tbd / im thinking RCF LF18G401 / RCF LF18X401 / B&C 18TBW100
35 - 100 Hz
Mid-Bass:
Vented enclosure
JBL 2226H (bought)
100 - 700 Hz
Tops:
Hornloaded HF
Altec 902-8T (bought)
Altec 811b (bought)
700 - 20 kHz
I've made a 3D reference for this cutie. Obviously there will be two of these, for Stereo
Please let me know what you think, what you dont like, what you like etc.
Also I still need a driver for the Cubo Sub, lmk if you have any good recommendations!

My first sound system was pretty good, like a strong learning curve. At the start I was kinda stuck on volume, but later I noticed that clarity, bass balance, where the speakers actually sit, and the room size really matter more. The sound felt like a major upgrade compared to basic speakers, even if distortion showed up when I pushed it to higher levels. Also, I learned that the most powerful setup is not always the best move, it’s more like depends on the use. In the same way, students who have a very hectic timetable might look up “
pay someone to take my online class for me
” yet the better academic help should be about learning, mentoring, and steady guidance not shortcuts.
