Although to make phase plugs and round horns, a cnc lathe is real nice.

Yup.

And handles, flared ports, corner protectors.

Maybe driver cones too - so you can co-design your cone and phase plug...

On a more serious note:

If someone designed one that could use molten metal and fibreglass properly, that would be insane.

However, these machines use plastic only, so its only flares and phase plugs for the moment.

With a 4-axis industrial size CNC, most things can be done, albeit slowly.

The reprap is an open source 3d printer - it and the fabber are basilly free to build versions of the commercial 3d printers that have been out for a while.
