"Rumour" has it Pl6.0/pl9.0 are very, very dangerous indeed.

Came close to buying PL9.0 recently, but don't think I could trust it driving 3x Turbomax per channel.

I've come to these model checking the highest damping factor of every model (even discontinued) of every knowed amp manufacturer. Why crest stopped to make vs series?

Problem with this is, some manufacturers lie in their specs.

Good damping is usually a result of many O/P transistors.

Many output transistors usually results in higher current draw, and support for 2 ohm stereo.

Only strong amps mention realistic current draw, at 1/3 power, 2 ohms stereo, 20-20khz, in their specs.

Look at pdfs for QSC, Crown MacroTech, Crest CA/01 series for examples of this. :lol:

tried a certain heavyweight over PD1850s over the weekend and can safely say, im glad we have one and not an smps. bwoy was i impressed with the way it responded

guys, what is an amp model reliable at 2ohm or 2,66 ohm at least per channel?
Actually we're using 2 crest 8200 to avoid 2ohm load.

Lightweight or SMPS.

Think many SMPS amps will be great for the mainstream of people, for Reggae/Dancehall/DnB/RnB etc...

"But", for the hardcore Roots enthusiasts, who probably High pass approx 35Hz, playing many tracks with compressed 40hz sinewaves, number of amps that can regularly deliver the goods, without blowing up or thermalling, on 4 ohm stereo, can be counted on one hand.

10% likely to be 2x CA18s...

Might be able to hire you a Naphon, so you're running with 2x.
