The way the lightweights were clipping, while the Inf8 was cruising, just seems they were limiting themselves because PSU just couldn't draw enough current to reproduce the bass downto 35hz, across 4x scoops, at high power..
And I've heard Rens home made amp do that with ease across 8x scoops, "all night"

We still have a 'restriction' inherent in Transformer coupled supplies, which applies to Switch Mode ones, which is the portion of each half cycle of AC mains supply as it approaches zero.
Now from what I've seen, the main storage capacitors used in Amplifiers with SMPS's are smaller in value than for the Transformer supply ones (generalisation) whilst the Mains Supply 'low voltage' part of the AC waveform remains the same; so re-charging may be similarly compromised by high Amplifier output at frequencies close to Mains frequency due to a smaller charge stored? (over simplified as some other things apply)
Might investigate this further in due course.........
Hope this makes sense in a non-technical sort of way!

We are talking 30kg extra or so then, thats all. Put the big amp in a separate case and the problem is solved.
The problems will start when ONLY lightweights are available, not a nice thought.

Just a shame though, as it seemed some lightweights could cure the problem of some biggish venues needing 4x subs to cover approx 500 people, but only ropey droopy ring mains & 13A sockets available...
There is a known transformer amp solution for this (eh Saul smiley2 ), but carrying 14kg current efficient lightweight, which could still do the notes downto 35hz across 4x subs with force, would have been bliss..
