OLD SPEAKER PROJECT was created by NorfolkDad
smiley33 ...I bought some rather old speakers to find them re-fitted with Eminence 15" drivers.

not sure what I actually have but the following strings are printed on the side of the magnets

PE15 - 3008
15904 8 ohm
67-92250058 G1

If anyone can help me identify these, maybe I could use them for a new build project. Also acquired a McKenzie 8ohm 100w looks dual concentric - in an old stage monitor - sure it will come in handy for something

hope someone can help this newbie dummy and help me get into the 21st century

many thanks .... smiley33

Have you tried the Eminence Web Site, if it's an old speaker, they may have an Archive section.

Peace and goodwill to all speaker builders

looked at Eminence site again, seems that anything pre -2000 would have been custom made for other companies (prior to their own public ranges), found out a couple of things mainly that it would be from 1992.

I have e-mailed Eminence in the states and now waiting to see if they can supply any params....

Thanks again for the suggestion Tony

A kindly chap at Eminence let me have some info on the drivers that I acquired - as follows:

15904 was a custom designed OEM speaker that we manufactured to one of our customer's specifications. It is an 8 ohm speaker with a 3" voice coil and a 95 oz ceramic magnet. We do not rate OEM designs (that is left up to the customer to test and rate their cabinet or amp), but a conservative thermal power rating based on the voice coil diameter would be about 350 watts. Here are the T/S parameters:

05-RE OHMS 6.51 13-FS HZ 47.90
06-LE MH .60 14-MMS GMS 55.85
07-QM 5.01 15-CMS mm/N .1977
08-QE .410 16-RMS NS/M 3.3548
09-QT .380 17-VAS LTRS 203.57
10-XMAX MM 1.10 18-SD SCM 856.34
11-BL TM 16.29 19-EBP 116.2
12-EFF % 5.23 20-SPL dB 99.2

Unfortunately I am still trolling my way around the site to educate myself but still trying to get my head around t/s params etc.....

Does anyone have any idea what I could do with these based on the supplied info above or should I give up and try something a bit newer....

George C

looks like all the info you need is there, use this set of figures and enter them into horn resp, bassbox pro, akabat etc.... and start designing a new box

Been messing with Hornresp for a week or so now - but find ripping lumps of hair out seems less painful... Akabak and basspro don't really want to download either..

As a PA Dummie I am still trying to get my head around some of the t/s parameters but I am getting there.

the Eminence drivers I have the params for - came in a sealed cabinet...

am I right in thinking that an EBP greater than 100 is better suited to a vented box of some kind?

the cabs are 4.5 cu ft (127 litres) capacity and I wonder about simply making them vented by putting in a port depending on the Fs of the speaker..

I guess I don't really just want someone to GIVE me the answers - however a nudge in the general direction would be brill - if possible

Either way I am having a bit of fun getting my brain working and learning as I go ---

Many thanks
