I think I've covered this somewhere on here, but I need the typing practice, so here goes. The baffle behind the speaker is 120 mm further back than the standard RX18. I was aware that a lot of deep chamber scoops remain the same size as there shallow chamber partners. This means the box is compromised, because the rear horn becomes shorter. I have written somewhere before, that the only way to get more natural energy out of a scoop would be to make it bigger. At the time of writing, I didn't realize that I would be making one.
The cab is predictable having gained 3-5 db between 20 and 50 cycles, it then starts to drop off but only back to the level of the standard RX18.
The tests so far have been a-b comparison using sine waves at 5 hz intervals from 20 to 150 hz. At each point recording the spl.
I will be bringing my Iasys machine to the meet on Sunday.
I think the cab is worth doing. I hope other people will decide that for me on Sunday.

I was referring to the length of the panel Mr T, from top of the chamber to bottom, which creates the throat below it...

I see, I don't know off hand, it did remain the same size as the RX panel. In doing the new one, I wasn't going to attempt to re-invent the cab. All I did was put two known factors together. Firstly, to deepen the chamber to that of the RX jnr. When I did this box, in spite of its small size, the larger chamber obviously had a good effect on the speaker being used. Secondly, Because of the response of the RX18 and the S118, i assumed there couldn't be much wrong with the rear horn shape, so I put the two together. The slight additional bonus came with the increase in horn length by virtue of these actions.
Regarding panel length I will measure it today and let you know. The only other factor worth noting is that there is additional bracing in the speaker chamber. This remains the same as the jnr. This was done because when the original board was moved back, the panels lost the bracing effect that the board gave then. The additional bracing is where the old panel used to be. I think that about covers it.

At the moment, I seem to be doing one project after another. That wasn't my original retirement plan, but regarding the scoops, they can be built at any time. Plywood and glue at the ready.
