Smithers (Ben) and I are arranging a Demo of some BMS 18N850,s in some Hogs in the near future that will be driven by a Matrix XP5000 in bridged mode. I have never heard these drivers in a scoop (scoop/tapped horn hybrid?) before but reports I have seen have said that this driver performs particularly well.

Although the cone is fairly light it is carbon fibre so hopefully should stand the strain. The coil is only a 4" jobby but has a very high surface area due to its length and is wound in/out of the former so should be OK.
They will be used on a Dub night so will get a good kicking. This will be around the Northampton area so I will post details when available.

If these are available in UK for price of V18-1000, that may raise some eyebrows. smiley19

Don't even need to Sim these in HR, Fs/BL/Xmax/Vas/qts just yells try me and blast me.

The depth of the driver also demands med chamber scoop !!!!!

Someone Tell Tekasis.... smiley36

Ray,

Don't get too carried away the figures posted by Ray are for the Mk1, the Mark II has been changed and is now more suitable for reflex's. Go to www.bmspro.info/ for full details.

A quick glance shows that they are very similar to V1200 spec's except Xmax which is larger. They should even fit the baffle cut-out and bolt holes.

Nick sent you a pm with price.

Oops, my bad. Will remove WinISD results shortly.

Just wanted some more momentum going on this driver. I knew it was mentioned on SP a while ago, and immediately "poo poo'd" by some folks.

Tony what would the recone kit scenario be regarding these?

Strange question to ask when buying new driver, but "recent shortages" by some, make this a normal question these days.

Ray, I do not have any stock at present but they are always held in Germany. I purchased some 8" re-cones for a guy a few months ago and they took 2 weeks to get here. If I sold a few of these drivers in the UK then obviously I would keep the Re-Cones in stock.

I stock all of the spare diaphragms for the BMS comps that I sell in the UK, although I have only sold one spare and that was because it was connected onto the wrong amp channel by mistake. 600 watts bass into a comp don't go, well they do but just for a few milliseconds.

Believe it or not I have never heard a scoop with a modern driver in. Heard loads of scoops back in the days when average driver handling was 200-300 watts Fanes , Celstions etc. so looking forward to being re-acquainted.

You'll be very suprised what 4x scoops, with 97db driver sensitivity, can do when driven with 800W each.
