Wanted:London builder to make prototype 18" scoop

Very similiar to Eminence design in my icon, in 18mm standard/shutter ply, filled ready for primer, but not painted.
With grill battens, but without grill. Expect cab to require approx 3x sheets of 8x4

Ligwa is selling finished painted 18mm birch ply scoops on ebay for £195,

EDIT:So obviously won't be looking to pay anywhere near that for unfinished scoop in shutter ply.

filler, screws, sandpaper 10
fuel/delivery of ply 5
8 solid hours work
not to mention electric etc
Tall order.

Most builders dont' quote by line item.. Or they wouldn't build enough for a living to eat....
Usually just timber + labour + paint + grill+wheels

Many builders quote inflated ply cost, then slap on huge labour charge, and wonder why you don't call back.

In real terms, no point in paying £200 to get unfinished shutter ply proto built, if I can buy finished birch ply scoop for less...
So guess prototype may only exist on my usb key for a while.. smiley23

you could dig out the tools smiley36 , i agree with nicky if they take a day to build, that would be minimum of £150.00 labour this does not inc materials..... have you got ant friends handy with a saw, could do a beer and build afternoon......

things get cheap when you do loads of them.

i estimate one scoop is gonna cost you over £120, from most builders. There's no point in anyone taking on the work for less, no one wants to work for nothing smiley1

Lev, why do you want a prototype made out of shuttering ply. I can't see the point of making a scoop that may be very big on the resonance front. Have you any other agenda other than cheapness?

one thing i allways point out lev to my cliants, it does not matter if its a cheap pulp kitchen or a solid wood one, it still takes the same amouts of cuts and screws etc to build it. If cost on materials is an issue for you why not build the box out of 18mm birch ply, but build all the internal panels out of mdf..... it would sound and look better than shuttering ply...... and work out cheaper on materials.....

Well MR T, if it does'nt work as well as expected, I have'nt forked out for expensive birch.

If it Works well in shutter ply, I dont mind painting and keeping it. Even if it worked in MDF wouldn't keep it.

Also, have modded design, so is in much better shape than plan you saw... smiley14

Guess I would still be using up 2x sheets of ply and 1x MDF though.
