This speaker is a great speaker, and like most speakers will need a box that allows optimum performance. What I am saying is that if you don't put it in the right box you won't get the best out of it. I believe the speaker was made for larger chambers than the 1850 needs. So if you put the 51 in a small chamber, performance will restricted. As to whether this speaker is the best on the market, who know?

ive not been overly impressed by the 51, I have tried it and heard it in a few cabs, im yet to hear it in a big chamber cab though..... i would say its a little warmer in sound a plays a little deeper than the 1850, but margin-able.... for the extra cost compared to the 1850 not sure its worth it.... looking forward to hearing the new 1850 mk4's next week. Apparently they use the magnet of the 1851, but everything else is the same as the originals......
