To wad or not to wad, that is the question. was created by tendril
Hi
new on here, but was posting on The Other Board. I have a pair of X12 cabinets made to spec and am in the process of getting drivers. My new question is about wadding.
Should I put wadding in these cabinets or not... I had posted on The Other Board but didn't really get a definitive answer. If I am to wad, what type should I use (looking at grillandwadman Markie)
Many thanks

There are various types of wadding you can use. Go to a local Upholsterers and get some fairly soft white foam they use for seat padding. You should definatly use wadding in a mid enclosure as you need to kill the shorter wave lengths, and prevent them from coming back onto your speaker and either causing a flat spot a a boom. The lower frequencies contained in the mid band are not a problem, as they are to large to be affected by a small enclosure.

Thank you Tony. I'll get on it. Also thanks for the email (comp drivers). Hopefully my wallet will be charged up enough at the end of october for 2 of those beauties.
