Ah yes, I was referring to the dispersion being way too narrow horizontally if you're vertically arraying.

You could widen the dispersion to something usable (90 to 180 degrees is common in line arrays as you only have one box in the horizontal plane).

Keep up the good work and have fun!

Must have missed that in the last plan mate.

Have a nice build...

Actually, I just noticed your big throat. You aren't building a real horn, just a waveguide, which is good as you don't need a phase plug at all - get high using the driver's individual response.

not sure how far to bring out the piece between the 8" drivers. my guess is about 12"

and then have it taperd to a point as in your sketch.
couple more pics..

One more thing should be noted, I saw it straight away, but I would sooner things be picked up by other members. It doesn't look like it will be mentioned so here's my observation. The horn path that you now have will not give any reasonable dispersion. From the start of the baffle to the end breakaway, it measures 17.8". This translates to a frequency of 763hz. Due to defraction, which is one of the most important thing to be aware of when designing horns, all frequency lengths above this figure will more or less travel in a straight line. Only frequencies below this figure will have horizontal dispersion.Edited by: Tony.A.S.S.

well i am obviously new to this but i dont see how i could improve dispersion on the higher freqs within my space available as iplan to x-over at 2500hz to the cd. i just tried to maximize horn length and mouth size and model in hornsrep..

i would think this would be better than a plain sealed back enclosure for mids.

I could have moved the mids forward from where they are now but not sure how that would help the situation. i assume its the lack of mouth size not depth as
most plans i found for mids had short wide horns such as the one below....

im not sure what the defraction would be for this plan but it looks good to me.

i guess i could include some 6.5" sealed back drivers on the doors to the 15" but i think that would cause more problems that it would help. plus more $$

if you could shed some light on my situation it would be appreciated.

It would cause more problems.

You have a big throat on your horn (as does the 'flare' type mid above, a proper horn would really have much higher compression). It means that you don't need a fancy phase plug to get up high (at cost of SPL) - ergo, you can cross high according to your driver's FR graphs. I reckon it'll reach 2500hz fine.

i havent seen a horn for 8" mid yet but i got a week or so till the drivers come in so maybe we can find a simple solution lol.
thanks again
