Subs to accompany the X-tro was created by Silver Canary
Hi all,
We are now in the process of building 2 X-tros loaded with the original drivers
We give indoor parties till 500 people, we play mostly Jamaican music.
for our subs we will use a pkn xd6000.
I know that the punisher is the recommended sub for the x-tro, but i'm afraid they are not really the sound we are looking for and they are a bit too difficult to build.
I was looking at the Cubo Sub, as it has a similar footprint... Good idea?
or maybe a mini scoop, or just a double 18inch reflex...
i'm struggling to chose as i never heard one of the designs except a double 18 BR...

the cubo sub is a good cab, but i think it wont have the sound you are looking for. For roots, reggae etc your best going for a mini scoop....

Xtro is a mighty cab. How about some Startec SBH.
Four of these layed flat and stacked with the Xtro's on top.
Load them with Void V1000

I'm sure that Startec cab will simply sound amazing, but its a bit too big for us.
What is it with the sound of the cubo sub? could give me a description how it sounds and why it's not suitable for Jamaican music?
We are not looking for this bass-crazy, sub dominant sound of UK-roots soundsystems, just a clean, hi inpact, balanced sub that can deliver the spl of a x-tro.
Is Staipers Mini scoop loaded with the 18sound 1400 a good match (void & PD are not easy to get over here)

The mini with the 18 sound would be fine.
Also consider Staips micro scoop, the 15" one
You do have to consider stacking height though.
Not sure how you aim to get the Xtros high enough?
