I have just aquired a soundweb, I have been playing with the Soundweb Designer Software today, here is the work in progress (settings are all wrong):
<!-- ia1 -->sndweb1.jpg<!-- ia1 -->[/attachment:losz8inr]
<!-- ia0 -->sndweb2.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:losz8inr]
I used 1way crossovers because the 2.3.4 and 5 only have a single phase switch that does all channels at once(or is it me??).
I have a few questions about it:
-any mistake in the order of the elements? not sure about the gain/limiter/eq order.
-what is the best practice for limiters with this unit, I read on SP that the Xover limiters shouldn't be used
-Are the limiter "rock solid"?
-If I use limiters on my inputs will I be as safe as with an avc2?
-About the crossover slopes, anyone used NTM52 or NTM36 ? I found some info/theory on them but no real experience/feedback.
The design took a while at first, but now I find the software very easy to use, and I can't wait to try the unit...

Don't forget to stick in the delay. Thats assuming you have your figures.

I haven't reinstalled designer on this PC yet so I can't have a look at the crossover phase question at the moment. I've never bothered with phase adjustment other than polarity and delay (which is effectively phase).
Must have taken you a while to do the custom control panel. I don't tend to bother putting all of the settings on it, usually just a metering panel because that's all you're interested in once you've got the setup right.
You are right to use the standalone limiters. I have no idea why they should be different but having tried both, the standalone ones are much more effective (like the ones in BSS's other controllers).
I do hope your system doesn't need 12 bands of EQ!
I've often wondered whether it would be better to put the EQ on each output or globally. It's easier to do it globally and might be better from a phase point of view.
Using the Mono Sub module followed by crossovers seems a bit odd, you only need one or the other really, since the Mono Sub module has a crossover in it. I just do a 2 input mixer followed by a crossover. I should send you some files I've done I guess.

Thank you very much for your help, I have modified the design accordingly.
Yes the mono sub was a silly one, a 2:1 mixer sorted it out nicely
The custom control panel is only for advanced settings changes, and yes it took ages, I wanted something straighfroward to access all (important) settings on one page.I will make a page with only meters (there are some nice needle meters I will use too), mute and gains.
You are right 12 bands is a lot, I thought I'd be prepared for anything with that, plenty of processing power left on the unit...
I will start inputing my settings for the system, and measure the horn path of my boxes: X1, HD15 and Porn Horn should be fairly easy to time align.
I will post some screencaps (and upload the file) when I am happy with the design , then I will have to work on my gain structure, then do some measurments with a RTA and I should have a nice system (well, I hope ).

I've got Soundweb which I think is great, but I've also got the BI=Amp Audia Solo. I use use this for my active Hi Fi systems. Are many people people aware of this one.It's worth a look.

Tony,
That's a pretty cool design for a new user but judging from the date of your post you have done better and have been working on it.
There is no need to use 1 way crossovers in your design and this creates more complication than needed as a 4-way crossover would offer the same control.
I would lose the limiters on the inputs and outputs they are built into the crossovers. The input limiter will do you no good as the input electronics on the soundweb will take 18dbv and clip with or without without a limiter. The output limiters will stop your amp from clipping or speaker from peaks but again there are limiters in the crossover.
Limiters and compressors are another subject and you can still blow equipment with a limiter from too much RMS voltage by overheating the drivers so don't think a limiter is a cure all for blowing speakers.
I would start with the following flow. IN > CROSSOVER > OUTPUTS > 4 BAND PARAMETRIC ON EACH XOVER OUTPUT > OUT
There is time delay, phase, mutes, meters, all available in the crossover. Just right click on the object and select properties and select what slope and features you want in your crossover. The 3 and 4 way crossovers have a phase control for "between" each band, which is what you need.
I think the NTM crossovers are fantastic I used them for a sharp cutoff on a M4 midrange horn which is used as a single device for voice only paging and frequency range is 250Hz to 4kHz.
I love the Soundwebs I have 4 of them and use them for Pro audio applications. What are you tuning your system with? Some sort of analyzer?
Mike
