Obviously more amp power on the 2 x 18, lets ignore that, end result is the question. 40 to 100hz ish.

PD186 or XB can't take the power required to make mini scoop louder than 2x18.
And there's only one mini scoop I've heard that could possibly do it.
Load it with PD1850, V18-1000, Turbomax 1200, walk in the park.
To design your own mini scoop, to equal 2x18 in SPL, really needs certain compression ratio.. E.g, negative expansion..
Cue the "uniform horn expansion lobby", who have never heard the King of mini scoops...

i guess the bottom line is; what do people want, not what designer they want
flipside, can think of a few people who have mentioned they actually don't like the s'man mini- so yet again, it's "everyman..."

In that case Mykey, why is it the shorty mini can smoke any 1x18 reflex/Rhino, keep up with many full scoops, and play outside no problem ?
Have personally engineered set using 4x of those to cover 500 people.. Also used same set outside..
Check the results of the Birmingham scoop shootout again to see the shorty evenly matched in output with ASS S118.
So I guess it's not just a "fancy" reflex box.

Glad Nicky started this thread in the FSP::R&C Forum.
This way the thread "will" be kept in order, and any posts falling foul of the regulations, will be moderated. smiley20
Don't care what some people think of shortman or his mini...
The fact is it can be used instead of full scoops in many venues, and it set's the standards for mini scoops. And is respected by many of the UKs top roots sound men.

Enough people say the cabs are brilliant, so no matter what you think of their namesake they obviously are very good.
Anyway, back on subject Mykey: Based on Rays answer, lets up the anti to a driver that is Reflex and Mini friendly and man enough.
So two Turbomax or B&C TBX (as these both I believe can do reflex) in a 2 x 18 or one in a mini.
Does the woodwork really keep up with the extra driver?
