Common understanding regarding scoops is, if you have cabs with plenty of "throw",
A) Lay them horizontally mouth to mouth to reduce throw and enhance low freq extension
Stand them vertically to enhance "throw" and SPL (Arguably the same thing)
Your thoughts, especially regarding S118 ?

Regarding how to place them. If I only had one per side they would be stood upright to give everything else some height, but that isn't a technical consideration. I've always thought there is some value in standing them sideways. I have done club installs with 4 per side stacked sideways. I like the idea of the speaker part being on the floor to take advantage of the coupling. And then you have the speakers in a line above which will also couple. If two stacks are in one block, I would always put the speakers together, once again, to take advantage of coupling. Just one more thing, I know that some of the low end of the scoop comes from the horn, but it doesn't seem to be as punchy. I think there is more advantage for the speaker to be on the floor than the horn for that reason.

The reason I posted this here, is because it's Tony's product, and his house.. smiley2
No one is more qualified to comment on pros/cons of stacking S118s upright or horizontally.
I know what I would do, and why, just needed to hear it from "The Daddy"..

Thanks for the info MR T.
The Golden Palace venue is pretty huge, but still, with one of the crews stacks, the best sub SPL & definiton was approx 40M from the stack. (Typical flipping Superscooper behaviour  )
So I'm guessing S118s horiz, mouth to mouth should do the job, problem is, how do you get kick bins and Midtops above 3x scoops horizontally !!? smiley26

Regarding stacking, lots of Bods, chairs, ladder, luck, Bravery, not necessarily in that order. All the usual things.

SamS wrote: this was some of the trouble i was experienceing on sunday. i dont know if your refering to us lev when u say the bass was nicer 40m away from stack? i felt that this was our problem. i prefered it when i was standing buy the food counter whilst we were playing.
I only did this test with Players Movement (Guy's with Superscoopers).
I just happened to be near the food counter, when they had a turn, and it was sounding dirty and deep.
Back in main hall, about 30M from stack, and it was OK'ish..
